The Charukeshi is a temple necklace set in gold polish with a matching pair of chandbali-style earrings. Goddess Lakshmi, seated on a lotus, sits at the centre of a necklace made of linked gold peacocks, with ruby pink and green coloured stones, green tumble stones and pearls.
What makes this one different
Temple jewellery began as jewellery for temple deities in South India, and it still carries their figures: gods, goddesses, peacocks and lotuses worked in gold. The Charukeshi keeps that language and lets the gold lead. The whole necklace is a line of peacocks, broken by crescent panels of ruby pink stones and finished with a fringe of green tumble stones and pearls. The colour is there, but it is the gold you see first.
The set
The necklace is a chain of linked peacock motifs with crescent-shaped panels set along it, each one edged with green tumble stone and pearl drops. At the centre, a Lakshmi pendant on a lotus sits above a tiered drop of three more crescents and a final fringe. It ties with an adjustable dori. The earrings carry the same Lakshmi figure inside a crescent framed by two peacocks, with a peacock at the top and green tumble stone and pearl drops below, and fasten with push-backs.

Materials, stated plainly
The Charukeshi is fashion jewellery. The base is brass with a gold polish. The red and green stones are coloured stones in ruby pink and green shades, not rubies or emeralds. The round green drops are tumble stones, and the small white beads are pearls.
Where and how to wear it
This is a statement set for weddings, pujas and festive days: Diwali, Navratri, Varalakshmi Vratham or a family wedding where you want a traditional South Indian look. It is at its best on a Kanjivaram or Banarasi silk saree in maroon, red, green or mustard, where the gold glows against the colour. Pair it with a round or deep neckline so the peacocks and the pendant are not hidden; a high neck or a heavily embroidered blouse will fight it. Add a gajra or fresh flowers in the hair, as in the photos, and keep the rest of the jewellery to bangles.
