The Hemakosha is a Turkish gold filigree necklace set: a flower-patterned collar necklace with a large round medallion pendant, and a matching pair of round medallion earrings. Both the pendant and the earrings finish in a fringe of tiny gold ball drops, so the whole set moves and catches the light.
What makes this one different
The Hemakosha is all about its centrepiece. A large round medallion hangs from the front of the necklace, worked in rings of fine filigree around a raised flower, and edged with small filigree flowers and a fringe of gold ball drops. The collar itself is lighter and more open: a band of raised five-petal flowers set against open filigree loops. That balance, a delicate band with one bold medallion, means the eye goes straight to the centre, which makes it a wonderful choice for a neckline that frames the chest.
What filigree gives this design
Filigree is fine wire twisted and shaped into lace-like patterns. In the Hemakosha, it is what fills the medallion with its circular, almost mandala-like rings and what keeps the collar band open and airy. Bright gold filigree like this is a signature of Turkish jewellery, which is known for warm yellow gold and intricate openwork.
The set
The necklace is a collar band of flower motifs that sits around the base of the neck, with the round medallion pendant at the front. It fastens at the back with an adjustable chain. The earrings have a flower top with a round filigree medallion below, finished with a ball-drop fringe, and push-back fastenings. There are no stones in this set; the whole design is in the metalwork.

Materials, stated plainly
The Hemakosha is made with a brass base metal with filigree work, finished in a bright gold polish. It is not real gold. It is premium fashion jewellery, priced accordingly, so you get the warmth of traditional gold for weddings and festivals without the cost or the worry.
Where and how to wear it
This is a wedding and festive piece. It is lovely for the pheras, a sangeet or mehendi in traditional wear, Diwali, Navratri, Durga Puja, Onam and family pujas, and it suits wedding guests and the bride's family alike. It looks especially rich with silk sarees, including Kanjivaram, Banarasi and Kerala kasavu sarees, as well as lehengas, anarkalis and suits.
The collar sits at the base of the neck and the medallion falls onto the chest, so deep V, sweetheart, round and boat necklines are ideal. It is not suited to a high-neck blouse, which will hide the collar. It looks beautiful against purple, wine, maroon, red, emerald green, royal blue, ivory and off-white with gold borders.

What is a medallion pendant?
It is a large, round pendant that works as the centrepiece of the necklace. On the Hemakosha, it is filled with circular filigree around a raised flower and finished with ball drops.
What comes in the set?
One necklace with a medallion pendant and one matching pair of earrings.
Does this set have any stones?
No. The whole design is made in filigree metalwork.
How does the necklace fasten?
With an adjustable chain at the back, so you can wear it higher or lower.
What kind of backs do the earrings have?
Push-back fastenings.
Which neckline suits this necklace?
Deep V, sweetheart, round and boat necklines, where the collar can sit at the base of the neck and the medallion can fall onto the chest.
Can I wear it with a high-neck blouse?
It is not ideal, as a high neck hides the collar. The medallion earrings on their own work better with a high neck.

Yes. Bright gold filigree with a medallion is a lovely match for Kanjivaram and kasavu sarees.
Which outfit colours does it go with?
Purple, wine, maroon, red, emerald green, royal blue, ivory and off-white all look rich with bright gold.
Can I wear the earrings on their own?
Yes. The round medallion earrings with their ball-drop fringe are striking enough to wear alone.
Is this a statement piece or an everyday piece?
A statement piece, made for weddings, festivals and family functions.
