The Lataveethi is a Turkish gold filigree necklace set: a large bib necklace designed as a garden of flowers and leaves, with a matching pair of long chandelier earrings. It is the biggest and most sculptural piece in our Turkish range, made for the days when you want your jewellery to be the first thing people notice.
What makes this one different
Most filigree necklaces repeat one small motif in rows. The Lataveethi is built like a climbing vine. Large open flowers bloom across the front, surrounded by long, curving leaves, each one filled with fine mesh-like filigree. Along the lower edge, small leaf-shaped drops and tiny teardrops hang loose, so the bottom of the necklace moves softly as you walk. Because every flower and leaf is a different size and angle, it looks hand-arranged rather than repeated, and it has far more depth than a flat collar.
What filigree work means
Filigree is fine wire twisted and shaped into open, lace-like patterns. On the Lataveethi, it is what gives each leaf its delicate mesh and each flower its texture, and it is why such a large piece still looks light and airy rather than solid. Bright yellow gold filigree like this is the signature of Turkish jewellery.
The set
The necklace is a wide bib that sits across the collarbone and spreads onto the chest, with leaf and teardrop drops along its lower edge. It fastens at the back with an adjustable chain. The earrings are long chandelier earrings: a flower top, a heart-shaped filigree panel and a fringe of leaf-shaped drops, with push-back fastenings. There are no stones in this set; the whole design is in the metalwork.

Materials, stated plainly
The Lataveethi is made with a brass base metal with filigree work, finished in a bright gold polish. It is not real gold. It is premium fashion jewellery, priced accordingly, so you can wear a piece this grand without the cost of real gold or the worry of carrying it to a wedding.
Where and how to wear it
This is a wedding statement piece. It is made for the wedding day, the pheras, a traditional reception and the biggest family functions of the season, and it suits the bride's or groom's family and close wedding guests. It looks richest with plain or lightly bordered silk sarees, Banarasi and Kanjivaram sarees, and lehengas with a simple blouse.
Because the bib is wide and falls onto the chest, it needs a deep V, sweetheart, round or boat neckline with plenty of open skin. It is not suited to a high-neck or collared blouse, and it will compete with a heavily embroidered neckline, so keep the blouse simple and the other jewellery minimal. It looks beautiful against bottle green, emerald, maroon, red, wine, royal blue, black and ivory.
